Ramsbottom: 3 reasons to pack your bags and move here!
At Pearson Ferrier, we’ve dedicated over a quarter of a century to helping families discover their ideal homes in the uniquely charming town of ...
Here at Pearson Ferrier, we’re proud to be surrounded by a vibrant community which has played an important role in making the company what it is today. As such, it is a core aim of ours to make an effort to give something back and become involved with as many charitable events as we can throughout the year.
Most recently, we were pleased to receive the invitation to get involved with fundraising efforts organised by Holcombe Brook Sports Club in support of three charities – The Little Princess Trust, Bury Hospice, and Cancer Research UK – contributing £1000 to the cause.
Celebrating the club’s 95th anniversary, with the aim to raise funds to be shared between the three charities, the team at Holcombe Brook organised ‘95 for 95’ – an event which saw club members play 95 sets of tennis, one to mark each year since the founding of the club in 1926.
Taking place on Saturday 26th June, the event saw donations made by club members, spectators, and a number of local businesses. To date, the total amount raised has topped £1800, with donations still coming in.
“It was an absolute pleasure to be involved with the event, and I think it’s fair to say it was a definite success!” says Pearson Ferrier Director, Mitchell Pearson. “The charities were chosen in recognition of a fellow club member who, at just 12 years old, received her cancer diagnosis in January this year. She’s been a real trooper and has now reached the end of her treatment, and we’re all keeping our fingers crossed for nothing but good news for her.”
“We all had a lovely time playing and watching tennis in the sunshine, with some of our members helping towards our fundraising efforts by bringing freshly baked cakes and pastries and selling them to hungry participants on the day,” says Angela Redfern, Club Manager. “We’re over the moon with the amount we’ve managed to raise. Not only have we met our initial target, but we’ve managed to exceed it by some margin, and donations are still coming in!
“We’ll be donating £550 to the Little Princess Trust, as this covers the cost to make one of their beautiful wigs for a little girl, and the remaining funds will be shared equally between Bury Hospice and Cancer Research UK – two charities which are very much close to our hearts.”
